BRAKE Coordinator Profile
BRAKE Coordinators – like Cathie Flint in the Central Highlands and Coalfields – are sponsored by local businesses and service clubs.
Cathie supports BRAKE training in eleven schools, training the teachers in the way to teach driver training, presenting the BRAKE story to parents and also co-teaching the courses.
Why did Cathie choose to get involved with BRAKE:
“I like to be able to make a real difference in reducing the involvement of our under-25s in motor vehicle crashes. It’s a community-based activity, and part of my role is to involve parents and other community members, who also play a vital role in keeping young people safe on our roads.”
She said the BRAKE program would be free to students in the Central Highlands thanks to funding from the Mining Industry Road Safety Alliance (MIRSA) and the support of the Queensland Minerals and Energy Academy (QMEA).
