BRAKE Ambassadors

Recognised voices supporting young road user safety

Young people are at the highest risk of being involved in a serious or fatal crash, especially during their teenage years and first year of independent road use. BRAKE Ambassadors are helping to change that.

These ambassadors are public figures who young people know, trust, and relate to. They use their voice to encourage safer choices, challenge risky behaviours, and promote accountability on and around the road.

By supporting BRAKE, they help deliver important messages before unsafe habits begin. Their involvement strengthens engagement, builds trust, and helps us reach more young people with evidence-based road safety education.

Marika Koroibete

Wallabies star and dual-code international

Marika Koroibete is one of the most respected athletes in Australian sport. A dual-code international, he began his professional career in rugby league with the Wests Tigers and Melbourne Storm before switching to rugby union.

He has since become a key player for the Wallabies, winning two John Eales Medals and being named in World Rugby’s Men’s 15s Dream Team of the Year in 2022. This honour recognised him as one of the best fifteen players in the world.

Marika brings more than sporting talent to his role as a BRAKE Ambassador.

His support for BRAKE reflects his belief that road safety is not just a personal issue, but something that affects families, teammates and entire communities.

Marika’s involvement with BRAKE helps young people connect with the importance of safe driving in a way that feels relevant and real. He understands the pressures that come with youth, risk and responsibility, and he wants to be part of the solution.

His story and presence help reinforce BRAKE’s message at a time when many young people are making life-changing decisions.

Young people listen to Marika. His message carries weight because it is grounded, authentic and built on experience. By standing with BRAKE, he is helping to shift attitudes when it matters most.

“Whilst rugby is a game of risk, there is no place for risk when in charge of a motor vehicle.” Marika Koroibete.
